Cessnock Clay Target Club has a long history of both competition and social clay trap shooting and sporting clays . The club takes great pride in providing a great facility that welcomes all shooters as well as those people interested in experiencing this unique sport.

At Cessnock Clay Target Club we offer a number of different disciplines to experience at our club. We have 5 clay trap shooting/DTL (Down the Line) layouts, a Ball Trap layout and hold 4 Field/Novelty sporting clays shoots per year. The club has just opened a 5 Stand layout which will run on our weekend practices.

At Cessnock Clay Target Club we offer a number of different disciplines to experience at our club. There is a large airconditioned clubhouse, toilet and hot showers as well as camping available to travelling shooters attending events. We do not have EFTPOS but will accept Direct Transfer payments. Our club is only 5 mins drive from the town centre.

We can offer people the opportunity to try out clay shooting in private group bookings (minimum of 5). We can offer people the opportunity to try out clay shooting in private group bookings (minimum of 5). You do not need to hold a firearm licence and will be under the supervision of a fully licenced club member. We are currently booked out till December. Please provide the club with plenty of notice as we require club volunteer's to run the event. This can be a very unique experience while visiting the Hunter Valley, first you can shoot sporting clays and clay trap shooting then experience the food and wineries in the Cessnock region.

Our 2025 membership form is now available. There are a number of options of membership available depending on what you want to do.

Full Member - ACTA registration so you can compete in any ACTA event (must be current ACTA member)

Veteran - for those 65+ yrs

Junior - under 18yrs

New Start - Club only competitor

New Full Member - Full ACTA membership for those who have not been an ACTA

CCTC membership - You MUST provide proof of current financial membership of a registered shooting association or club.

Operating Hours

  • Tuesday - Practice day running from 10am - 12pm then 3pm - 5pm. DTL/clay trap shooting only.
  • Practice is the 2nd and 3rd Saturday of the month. DTL and 5 Stand/Sporting clays.
  • Saturday - Competition the 4th Saturday of the month.
  • 4 Field/Novelty clay shoots per year- See calendar for dates.
  • Corporate/Private events - We are currently booked out till December. A date will be booked once confirmed and payment received. Not available on a Sunday

Appointments are used for the booking of the Club for Corporate Events. Saturdays are also available for Corporate events when competition events are not held. Please see Events Calendars.

Saturday and Sunday opening hours are for competition and practice days. Practice days are scheduled for the  2nd and 3rd Saturday of the month.

    Participants will need to bring photo ID and complete a form that will allow them to participate.

    The club can arrange to supply a firearm.

    Yes, undertake your Firearms Licensing exam and practical with of our approved Firearms Examiners. 

    Go to the Firearms Registry to understand what you will need to do and go to the Firearms Safety Training Council website to get started.

    These are a great fun for everyone and could be part of your end of year event, parties, Buck or Hen parties. Please provide the club with plenty of notice as we rely on club volunteers to run the event. Minimum numbers of 5 participants required. Excellent introduction to clay target shooting in a controlled and safe environment. 

    Duration of an event is determined by the number of people that participate. This will be discussed when booking.

    You must be 12 years or older to participate.
